Ready Mix Driver - Concrete
Sunrock, Roxboro, NC, United States
Sunrock is growing, and we’re excited to share that we’re opening a brand-new Concrete and Asphalt facility in Prospect Hill, North Carolina. This state‑of‑the‑art location will support our continued commitment to serving the region with high‑quality products and exceptional service.
General Summary
The Ready Mix Concrete Driver will drive a concrete mixer truck equipped with either a manual or automatic transmission, utilize the truck to properly mix concrete and deliver it to assigned job sites. Experience operating specialized equipment—including concrete mixer truck, roll‑off truck, sanitation trucks (garbage or recycle) or other top‑heavy equipment— is a plus. The driver will be required to display a professional attitude and show respect to customers at all times. The driver will calculate the amount of water required for the desired slump and complete a variety of pre‑printed forms.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Comply with all safety policies, procedures, and established safe practices. Report all unsafe conditions and actions to a supervisor and/or the Manager Safety & Health.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area and meet other housekeeping needs as required by Sunrock MSHA 30 CFR 56.20003 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.22.
Work in a safe manner while complying with all company policies and procedures.
Safely operate a concrete mixer equipped with either a manual or automatic transmission, delivering concrete mix to job sites while following all traffic regulations.
Ensure quality product via water addition—check ticket for specific instructions related to additional water. No water may be added exceeding those instructions.
Upon arrival at the job, slump is inspected. If it is below the specified amount, add enough water to obtain the specified slump. This water will be recorded on the back of the delivery ticket, not on the front.
If the customer requests additional water, written authorization must first be obtained on the appropriate line on the back of the ticket. This authorization is required for each addition of water; you must also note the approximate yardage left in the truck and number of gallons added.
Additional water will be totaled on the back of the delivery ticket, and all water requested by the customer must be listed on the front.
Each truck will be required to maintain 50 gallons for post‑pour cleanup.
Provide good customer service by effectively and professionally communicating with customers, Dispatch, and other RMC staff.
Drive the truck safely into loading position to receive mix components such as sand, crushed stone, cement, and water.
Read the delivery ticket to determine type of mix to be hauled, additional products to be carried, directions to jobsite, and special instructions.
Adjust slump as needed to deliver within specifications.
Understand slump (consistency of product) and the effects of time and temperature on the slump.
Demonstrate ability to be flexible with work hours, performing overtime when needed in all weather conditions, and understand that truck assignments are based on business needs and availability.
