
Extrusion Technician

Overview
An Extrusion Technician is responsible for performing and maintaining the daily activities associated with a production line. This includes housekeeping, safety, quality, maintaining production efficiencies, repair and maintenance and minimizing downtime.
Primary Job Responsibilities
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Practice proper PPE compliance and maintain a safe working record and environment
Completion of shift production and reporting paperwork
Immediately communicate unsafe conditions, acts or injuries to Production Supervisor
Meet quality specifications for all products produced
Preform Preventive Maintenance on all equipment as needed
Troubleshoot process and mechanical problems and perform repairs and adjustments to meet production needs as required
Practice proper forklift operation and preventive maintenance
Maintain ability to operate various production lines and processes effectively
Maintain facility housekeeping
Adhere to PLP product sampling schedule
Maintain and build job skills through company training programs
Meet or exceed standard production efficiencies on all production lines
Adhere to ISO 9001 Quality, certification requirements
Perform tooling changeovers in an efficient manner
Requires regular attendance per the schedule assigned by supervisor
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge & Skill Requirements
This position should possess the following skills/knowledge:
High school diploma or equivalent, desired
Mechanical troubleshooting and repair abilities
Ability to operate heavy machinery
Analytical thinking and problem solving skills
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within manufacturing environment
Self-motivated and dependable
Punctual with good attendance
Previous manufacturing machine operation or extrusion experience
Physical Requirements
Ability to repeatedly lift 75 pounds to a height of 6 feet
Must be able to perform repetitive motion, such as: walking, reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, pulling, griping, and standing
Ability to stand and be mobile for a minimum of 12 continuous hours
Ability to work in temperature extremes
Clarity of vision and the ability to focus on a fast repetitious operation
