Position: .4 FTE American Sign Language Teacher
Location: Lewis Mills High School
Reports to: Building Principal
Starting Date: With the commencement of the 2026-2027 school year
Lewis Mills High School is looking for a dynamic and engaging ASL teacher to join a team of driven and innovative educators. The World Language department at Lewis Mills is a collaborative and collegial group of educators who strive to instill a love for language and an appreciation for culture of others. We are looking for a candidate who will bring their own knowledge, expertise, and ideas to the table. An ideal ASL teacher at Lewis Mills High School is someone who creates engaging lessons taught primarily in ASL, and employs a variety of instructional strategies to help students be successful learners. The candidate must also have extensive knowledge of and appreciation for Deaf Culture. Proficiency level of 3 or higher in ASL required. We value collaboration on problems of practice, and frequently work together to brainstorm solutions to unique problems or patterns that arise. Our team of world language teachers has the opportunity to meet several times weekly for a 9-12 world language teacher PLC, and there are several professional learning opportunities throughout the year. Qualifications

CT Endorsement 057 Teaching of Hearing Impaired (preferred) but other certifications considered
ASL Proficiency level of 3 or higher on ASLIPI (required)
Microsoft Office 365 (specifically OneNote, Teams, etc.) (preferred)
