
Benefits Manager

A large organization is seeking a Benefits Manager to oversee the administration and ongoing improvement of employee benefits programs. This role partners with HR, payroll, leadership, and external vendors to ensure benefits offerings are competitive, compliant, and aligned with business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Manage employee benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k), and wellness initiatives.
Administer health engagement and wellness programs in partnership with external vendors.
Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure accurate administration and service delivery.
Lead annual Open Enrollment, including system setup, eligibility rules, funding rates, and employee communications.
Develop and distribute benefits communications such as plan summaries, guides, and change notifications.
Administer the 401(k) program and coordinate Form 5500 filings and compliance activities.
Ensure benefits programs remain compliant with applicable regulations.
Support HR capability through mentoring and informal development.
Serve as the primary point of contact for regional union relationships and benefits-related negotiations.
Required Skills
7–10 years of progressive experience in employee benefits administration.
Strong vendor management experience, including benefits changes or new implementations.
Proven ability to communicate benefits updates and manage change effectively.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (analysis, reporting, summarization).
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Plusses
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field.
Experience in a matrixed or global organization.
