Job Description
Primary Purpose
Provide all students with appropriate learning experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth; enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Qualifications
Education / Certification
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Valid Texas certificate for the subject and level assigned
Special Knowledge / Skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge and demonstrated competency in the subject(s) assigned
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage behavior
Openness to change and innovation to meet the needs of all students
Experience
At least one year student‑teaching or approved internship
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Guide learning of students in accordance with the district’s philosophy of education toward the achievement of curriculum goals.
Align teaching and resources to the District curriculum.
Present subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines and district policies.
Conduct ongoing assessments of student learning and use results to plan and implement instruction.
Collaborate with other teachers to modify curricula and instruction for special education, 504, ELL, and GT students.
Work cooperatively with campus and district instructional supervisors, leaders, and department heads to improve instruction.
Offer accelerated instruction to students meeting state “at‑risk” criteria to enable satisfactory performance on the state assessment.
Determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to campus and district requirements.
Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned; sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
Use appropriate technologies as teaching and learning tools and integrate them into subject‑area instruction.
Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteers.
Maintain professional and cordial relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
Adhere to local, state, and federal confidentiality guidelines.
Conduct conferences with students, parents, and other staff members and respond to parent communications in a timely manner.
Take precautions to protect students and create a conducive classroom environment.
Manage student behavior in accordance with the CCISD Student Code of Conduct and handbook.
Account for school property and be responsible for books, equipment, and instructional materials.
Maintain accurate student accounting and grading records.
Implement data‑driven decision making and policy‑driven decision making based on verified data and best practices.
Seek and participate in professional development to improve instructional effectiveness and student achievement.
Collaborate with colleagues to reflect on teaching practices and remain abreast of professional developments.
Maintain records of professional development activities and comply with state, district, and school regulations.
Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
Work cooperatively with coworkers and supervisors to achieve school and department goals.
Hold punctuality, time management, and positive communication in daily work.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including attendance at school events.
