Description
Need to sit in the Midland/Permian area! Telecommunications Field Technician. The Telecommunications Field Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of a wide range of communication systems, including LTE networks, VSAT/LEO satellite systems, two‑way radio systems, fiber optic infrastructure, and network equipment. This role requires hands‑on technical expertise and the ability to work independently in field environments while supporting enterprise and industrial network operations.

Key Responsibilities

Install, configure, and maintain LTE/4G/5G communication equipment and associated networking hardware

Perform installation and alignment of VSAT and LEO satellite systems (e.g., Starlink or similar platforms)

Support and troubleshoot two‑way radio systems (VHF/UHF, trunked systems, repeaters, antennas)

Conduct OSP (Outside Plant) fiber optic work, including splicing, testing (OTDR), and troubleshooting

Maintain and repair cable plant infrastructure, including structured cabling and terminations

Provide hands‑and‑eyes support for network operations teams, including rack/stack, patching, and equipment replacement

Assist with network firewall and routing hardware installations, basic configuration, and troubleshooting

Perform site surveys, signal testing, and system performance validation

Diagnose and resolve connectivity issues across multiple communication platforms

Ensure all installations meet safety standards, company policies, and industry best practices

Document work performed, including diagrams, test results, and service reports

Coordinate with NOCs, engineers, and vendors to resolve escalated issues

Travel to remote or customer sites as required

Required Skills & Qualifications

Experience with LTE/5G, satellite communications (VSAT/LEO), and RF systems

Knowledge of fiber optics (splicing, testing, troubleshooting)

Familiarity with networking fundamentals (IP addressing, routing, firewalls, switches)

Hands‑on experience with two‑way radio systems and antenna systems

Ability to read and interpret network diagrams and technical documentation

Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills in field environments

Comfortable working at heights, outdoors, and in varying weather conditions

Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel

Preferred Qualifications

Certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, FOA Fiber Certification, or RF certifications with Starlink or LEO satellite deployments

Experience supporting industrial or oil & gas communications infrastructure

Work Environment

Field‑based role with travel to customers and remote sites

Combination of indoor (data centers, telecom rooms) and outdoor work (towers, remote installations)

May require on‑call or after‑hours support

This is a Contract position based out of Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $55.00/hr.
