
Fleet Manager

Summary
The Fleet Manager oversees the acquisition, operation, maintenance and disposal of Fairbanks Scales vehicles and equipment. This position also assists in negotiating with vendors, coordinating repairs, tracking vehicle usage and implementing efficiency and safety programs.
Essential Job Duties
Ensures employees have proper driving credentials and manages the driver's license renewal process, DOT physicals and medical examiner's certification, annual motor vehicle reports and the evaluation of the driving history, random drug/alcohol screening program, and driver qualification files.
Manages company drug/alcohol program.
Ensures proper vehicle licensing, registration, insurance, and signage.
Schedules repairs and/or preventative maintenance, ensuring that the necessary numbers of fleet vehicles are always available.
Orders vehicles yearly based on fleet plan/budget.
Coordinates delivery of new vehicles and assigned vehicle kits.
Oversees the vehicle maintenance/repair approval process and fuel program.
Serves as the main fleet contact with the various service providers as well as Fairbanks management and all drivers.
Analyzes and identifies vehicle candidates to retire and replace based on age, odometer, maintenance spend, mileage activity, and other cost considerations.
Maintains fuel program.
Analyzes cost of repairs and negotiates rates when necessary.
Analyzes performance and initiates projects to improve vehicle program efficiency.
Administers and enforces company driver/vehicle policy.
Maintains vehicle records.
Develops and maintains fleet reports and expense trackers.
Additional duties as required.
Required Qualifications
This position requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Must have five years of operations and analytical experience working in a fleet, logistics, and/or operations field.
Experience with GPS‑maintained commercial fleet is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office products – specifically Excel and Outlook.
Experience and fluency with CDL, DOT requirements and DMV policies is preferred.
Requires reading and review of regulatory, legal and technical documents.
Critical thinker with exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent problem‑solving skills.
Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to develop and maintain business relationships.
Strong negotiation skills.
Work Environment
General office conditions. Exposed to moderate noise levels.
Physical Abilities
Required to use close vision and be able to focus.
Regularly required to talk and hear; frequently required to sit, stand, bend at the knee and waist, and walk.
Must be able to perform repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movements to type and work on computer.
Must have finger dexterity and hand‑eye coordination to work on computer, telephone, and related office equipment.
