Supplies equipment to shippers and truckers, while managing the inventory of equipment in their area of operation. They assure appropriate containers and equipment levels are maintained to meet customer needs in a timely manner while controlling costs.
Responsibilities
Support the team with the daily tracking and releasing of equipment for all depots/Rail Ramps in the area to ensure accurate inventory records
Guides, coaches, and supports the inland Equipment Disposition team
Monitor imbalance and ensures that stock levels are well-maintained to meet export demands
Ensue customers obtain equipment which meets and offer substitution to their shipping needs in a timely fashion
Monitor empty stock position and liaise with Container Steering team for equipment dispatch with objective of negating empty storage
DAP monitoring, acceptance, and empty evacuation as per guidelines from Container Steering Ensure epos events are reported on timely basis and clear Epos errors on daily basis
Planning and steering empty container on Rail or truck
Monitor over-due containers (laden and empty) and follow-up with CSI / CSB for further action
Monitor turn-around time of equipment at depots and Rail ramps and take appropriate action to ensure TAT is within stipulated guidelines
Repositions containers that are sold, or for sale, to the buyer (phase-out containers process)
Planning and steering empty container on Rail and truck
Issues works orders related to equipment (Rail, storage, trucking etc)
Ensures that all equipment is at the appropriate location
Updates various reports and cleans the error file
Epos error handling / Liaise with vendors to resolve epos errors / identify root cause and resolve permanently
Controls costs for positioning equipment and evaluates vendor performance
Handles inquiries relating to equipment releases or inventory availability
Perform variance analysis vs plan including operational reasoning behind the variance and corrective actions
Updates 8 week forecast weekly and reviews the forecast quality
Sends PTI request to vendors for reefer containers
Liaise with M&R to evacuate damage equipment
Review commercial forecast and ensure export requirement coverage
Work with stakeholders to move boxes on the most efficient routes to improve unit cost across the region
Makes certain that all departmental and functional training requirements are fulfilled
Ensures consistent application of Hapag-Lloyd policies to all personnel actions
Qualifications
Associate degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in the Maritime Industry or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Possesses specialized knowledge of 3 or more years within all principles of the Operations function.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, data analysis, and financial/data modeling.
Experienced in using interactive dashboards and reports ( Qlik Sense and QlikView)
Understands most shipping terms; can use a dictionary to find terms not recognized. Is willing to clarify shipping terms unique to a location. Understands routings, schedules and general practices of various countries, carriers, ports, and terminals.
Knows what type of equipment must be made available at what locations, depending on shipping schedules and types of goods shipped.
Uses word processing software efficiently and effectively. Uses spreadsheet software as a tool for tracking work. Uses other software appropriate to work demands and effectively applies other components of MS Office required by the job.
Proficient in MS Office (e.g., MS Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and other software appropriate to work demands.
