Lapeyre Stair is seeking a Controller to own our accounting and finance function. This role is responsible for day‑to‑day accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our financials, and producing financial analysis and modeling to improve visibility, support decision‑making, and drive profitability across the business.
The ideal candidate is hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and is comfortable working across multiple systems. They collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams and bring a continuous improvement mindset to processes and workflows. This individual can identify opportunities to streamline and enhance accounting processes, including leveraging emerging technologies such as AI, and has an analytical mindset to connect financial results to business performance.
Reporting to the General Manager, this role operates in a lean, high‑accountability environment with broad exposure across the business.
Laitram is comprised of four operating divisions – Intralox, Laitram Machinery, Lapeyre Stair, and Laitram Machine Shop. Key Responsibilities
Perform month‑end close and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Review general ledger accounts for accuracy, completeness, and trends
Assist with all aspects of accounting including accounts payable, accounts receivable and fixed assets as needed
Analyze gross and net margin; determine true product and component cost to inform pricing and margin decisions
Develop financial models for budgeting, pricing analysis and cap‑ex planning
Manage downpayment schedules, credit processes, and customer financial risk analysis
Identify opportunities to streamline and automate accounting transactions and system flows
Participate in cross‑functional projects and provide ad‑hoc financial analysis as needed
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or auditing
3+ years of relevant experience
Cost accounting knowledge in an inventory or manufacturing environment
Working experience with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment (Epicor, Oracle)
Strong understanding of GAAP; detail‑oriented with strong analytical skills
Effective communicator and collaborator across functions and levels
Advanced Microsoft Excel; working knowledge of Teams and SharePoint
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a small‑to‑mid‑sized manufacturing company
Active CPA certification
Experience leading or supervising an accounting team
Familiarity with job costing or project‑based accounting
Experience preparing financial materials for senior leadership
