Position Overview
Transdev is hiring a Second Shift Diesel Mechanic for our shop serving the City of Thornton, Colorado. The role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines across various vehicles and equipment. Shift schedule: Monday - Thursday, 1:00 pm – 11:30 pm. Application deadline: 04/30/2026.

Compensation & Benefits

Base pay: $30.00 – $50.00 per hour

Additional $0.10 per hour for each ASE certification earned

Vacation: minimum of two weeks

Sick days: five days

Holidays: 12 days (8 standard, 4 floating)

Other benefits: 401(k) retirement plan, medical, dental and vision, life insurance, short‑term disability, voluntary long‑term disability; company‑paid ASE testing and training materials

Key Responsibilities

Perform preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections

Diagnose and repair vehicle and equipment systems including brakes, suspensions, engines, drivetrains, transmissions, and other components

Ensure work orders are completed accurately

Assist with road calls and emergency services as necessary

Qualifications

Valid driver’s license required

At least 3 years of automotive or diesel maintenance and repair experience or a combination of technical school education and experience

Possess a mechanic’s tool set

ASE certifications preferred; must be willing to participate in company ASE certification program (training, testing, and bonuses provided)

Subject to DOT drug testing; no use of Schedule I drugs including marijuana

Physical Requirements

Work outside in varying temperatures, weather, and humidity; perform 100 % of job outside, alone or in remote locations

Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); walk long distances, navigate sloped ground or uneven surfaces

Push, pull, lift objects up to 50 lbs; bend, kneel, or crouch for items at ground level

Endure heavy traffic, dust, vehicle fumes, and noise
