Job Description
The School Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and functional school environment. The role performs routine maintenance, repairs, and custodial support to ensure facilities, equipment, and grounds operate efficiently and meet safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Facility Maintenance & Repairs – Repair and maintain plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and structural systems within skill level; address work orders in a timely manner; conduct preventative maintenance to reduce equipment failure.
Custodial & Grounds Support – Assist with general cleaning duties as needed (e.g., spills, emergencies); maintain outdoor areas including mowing, trimming, and debris removal; set up and break down spaces for school events, meetings, and activities.
Safety & Compliance – Ensure compliance with local, state, and district safety regulations; identify and report hazards, unsafe conditions, or needed repairs; maintain proper use and storage of tools, equipment, and chemicals; maintain professional behavior, appearance, and work ethic to represent the school district positively.
Equipment & Inventory – Operate and maintain maintenance tools and equipment; monitor inventory of supplies and notify supervisor when restocking is needed.
Other Duties – Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Essential Duties and Qualifications
Reasonable knowledge and skill level to work in a variety of trades.
Must be able to pass a background check.
Demonstrate effective customer service strategies to all district patrons.
Ability to work safely and efficiently.
CDL required or willing to obtain CDL.
High School diploma or trade school degree preferred.
Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
