Job Title: MULTI PURPOSE PERSONNEL
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Five (5) years in a specific trade preferred
Ability to perform repair, assembly, and construction work and care for tools, materials and equipment safely
Valid driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle record
Grasp, lift, maneuver, carry, push, pull, move, and set down (50-80 lbs.) objects on a daily basis safely
Knowledge of correct painting procedures for interior and exterior painting
Knowledge of correct painting preparation including the chalking, sanding and spackling of surfaces to be painted
Knowledge of proper staining and sealing techniques for woodworking applications
Knowledge of proper painting techniques (rolling, brushing, spraying, and cutting in trim)
Knowledge of sheetrock work (patching of holes, application, finishing, and texturing)
Ability to analyze emergency situations accurately and take prompt actions
Ability to read and write and make accurate arithmetic computations
Ability to make rough sketches, read blueprints, and work from specifications
Ability to climb and work from ladders, stairs, and scaffolding
Ability to operate and maintain a safe work environment for self and other employees
Ability to operate small machinery (bob-cat, backhoes, posthole diggers, front end loaders, pressure washers, etc.)
Pass a physical examination

Salary Schedule: Mechanic Specialist
Specific Job Duties
Performs assigned preventive maintenance, repair, construction, fabrication, and assembly work
Completion of work orders assigned to Multi-Purpose crew
Assist in transporting tools, supplies, equipment, and materials to and from job site
Perform proper painting procedures for interior and exterior painting
Perform proper painting preparation including chalking, sanding, and spackling of surfaces to be painted
Perform proper sanding and sealing techniques for woodworking applications
Perform proper painting techniques (rolling, brushing, spraying, and cutting in trim)
Properly patch holes, finish, texture, and paint sheetrock
Operate power tools such as saws, drills, wrenches, and various hand tools
Make simple measurements, cuts, bends, shapes, apply, mix, or otherwise handle materials and substances in accordance with instructions
Advise on the selection, ordering, and storage of supplies, materials, and equipment
Perform all other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or by Superintendent
Professional Attitude and Conduct
Establishes and maintains respectful, harmonious relationships with administration, school faculty, other employees, students, vendors, and the general public
Observes professional ethics as prescribed by the employee’s profession/craft and in accordance with state law and board policy
Adheres to Board policy, administrative rules and regulations
Seeks, shares, and respects ideas of others
Exhibits a caring, positive attitude towards others
Maintains confidentiality of all School Board business unless authorized by immediate supervisor
Participates in professional growth activities such as seminars, conferences, workshops for improvement of knowledge and skills relating to best practices in the use of supplies, tools, or equipment, and methods of operation
Participates in professional activities on a local, state, and national level in assigned areas (including for appropriate personnel)
Communication
Understands and interprets written and verbal instructions from immediate supervisor and gives clear written and oral instructions to others as required
Accurately compiles data, summarizes information and provides written reports when required
Answers the telephone and receives visitors in a courteous and efficient manner
Follows the chain of command for various administrative procedures
Attendance and Punctuality
Reports to work at the assigned time
Attends work consistently
Contacts Supervisor when absent
Scans in or out using the employee scan system as appropriate
Safety
Completes tasks in a safe manner as prescribed by the Safety Department or by the employee’s profession/craft
Maintains a neat and orderly work environment
Dresses appropriately for the job assigned and in compliance with state law and board policy GAMB Employee Dress Code
Displays employee ID tag at all times while on duty
Reports any unsafe conditions or incidents of injury or damage immediately to the appropriate official
Complies with policies GAMA Employee Tobacco Use and GAMD Drug-Free Workplace when on duty
Terms of Employment
8 hours per day - 12 months (240 days)
Probationary period of 90 days from date of employment. After 90 days, a decision based upon an evaluation will be rendered regarding the employee’s status as a permanent employee.
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of non-instructional personnel.
The Superintendent reserves the right to change the job and any other duties, as required, with advance written notification.
Annual Salary is based on years of experience (0-40), with increases for advanced degrees.
