Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic

Salls Brothers Co is seeking a skilled and self-motivated Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic to join our team. This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy construction equipment in the field. Key Responsibilities
Perform on-site diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on heavy equipment including excavators, loaders, dozers, skid steers, dump trucks, and related machinery.
Inspect equipment to identify mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine issues.
Repair or replace defective parts, components, and systems.
Use diagnostic software and tools to identify faults and calibrate systems.
Maintain accurate service records and documentation of repairs.
Communicate effectively with operators and supervisors regarding equipment condition and repair timelines.
Ensure compliance with company safety standards and OSHA regulations.
Maintain and stock field service truck with necessary tools and parts.
Qualifications
3+ years of experience working on heavy construction equipment (field experience preferred).
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and drivetrain components.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
Proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment.
Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred).
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements
Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
