Job Description
We are looking for a highly skilled Metallurgist to join our Quality team and take the lead in evaluating risk and setting appropriate controls to prevent defects. In this critical role, you will be at the forefront of our engineering efforts, supporting procurement, product engineering, and quality control. What You’ll Do
Lead metallurgical investigations for production issues, qualification failures, field returns, and aircraft accident investigations.
Perform comprehensive testing, including fractography, microstructure evaluations, chemical analysis, and mechanical testing (tensile, Charpy impact, fatigue).
Take ownership of special processes, developing and optimizing heat treatment cycles, and supporting various surface coating processes.
Develop and maintain NDT and welding qualifications and procedures, ensuring all metals meet stringent industry and safety standards.
Lead the execution and maintenance of Design and Process risk assessments, collaborating with multifunction teams to develop corrective actions.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or demonstrated knowledge/certifications in Quality Engineering.
2-3+ years of related experience in a manufacturing environment, with several years specifically in a metallurgical role.
NDT Level III Certification is highly preferred.
Proficiency with metallurgical testing equipment, software, and failure analysis techniques.
