Job Description
As an Assistant Manager at El Pollo Loco, you’ll be a key player in ensuring the restaurant runs smoothly, delivering exceptional service and quality while guiding your team to success.
Position Purpose
The Assistant Manager works closely with the General Manager to maintain high standards of quality, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction. This role is an important step toward assuming the responsibilities of a General Manager and requires a proactive, hands‑on approach, along with willingness to cross‑train and support various aspects of restaurant operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborate with the General Manager to monitor and control labor costs through effective scheduling, cross‑training, and workforce retention initiatives.
Oversee restaurant opening and closing procedures, including security protocols, crew coordination for setup, food prep, and cleaning.
Conduct inventory checks, update the inventory system, and handle food deliveries ensuring accurate records.
Maintain customer service and speed of service metrics, ensuring cleanliness and adherence to health/food safety standards, and QSC standards.
Direct and prioritize team tasks during shifts, cover workstations, and adjust staffing based on sales volume.
Welcome customer feedback and address comments or concerns using the Just Say Yes policy, communicating promptly to management for quick resolution.
Perform other duties as assigned to support restaurant operations.
Qualifications – Education, Experience, License & Certifications
Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
Must be certified on all EPL SPECS positions or have 2–4 or more years of restaurant supervisory experience.
Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for company business.
Must obtain a Serve Safe certification and pass the EPL Food Safety Audit (FSA) class upon hire.
