THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Human Resource Assistant 1, you will be responsible for routine HR work that is critical for maintaining employee requirements and keeping personnel records up to date. This includes coordinating employee performance management by monitoring reports to ensure that employee performance reviews are completed on time and that all documentation is uploaded to the correct Electronic Official Personnel File. You will also monitor an email resource account to help ensure that HR transactions, such as hiring new employees or extending probationary periods, are entered timely and accurately, as well as communicate with employees to help them get their clearances renewed on time.
Our team will rely on your attention to detail to help ensure all documentation from position descriptions to background checks for all current employees is up to date, recorded correctly, and available when needed. Your responsibilities will also involve tracking and verifying quality assurance and nurse certification payments, medical malpractice liability coverage, and other miscellaneous responsibilities. Learning and maintaining current knowledge of DHS policies and procedures, Administrative and Personnel Bulletins, and Management Directives is key for success in this role.
WORK SCHEDULE AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Full-time employment
Work hours: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
Telework: Part‑time opportunity up to three days per week after successful completion of a training period. Telework requires a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If unable to telework, you may report to the headquarters office in Loysville.
Salary: Starting salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
One year of clerical or comparable experience involving obtaining, providing, and evaluating information in accordance with established standards; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
Must meet the PA residency requirement.
Must be able to perform essential job functions.
LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
Must pass a background investigation.
This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law, requiring satisfactory criminal history reports including PA State Police, PA Child Abuse, and FBI Fingerprint clearances.
