Tallahassee State College is thrilled to announce a full‑time, grant‑funded opening for the position of Career Development Specialist with DOC – Tomoka Correctional Institution. We are looking for someone who shares our commitment to fostering a vibrant workplace community.

Responsibilities
As a Career Development Specialist, you’ll play a key role in providing services related to Compass 100 Hybrid and supplemental in‑cell assignments through cell‑front instruction for eligible participants in restrictive housing, as directed by the Lead Educator.

Administration and interpretation of assessments.

Delivery of the 100‑Hour Transition Skills Program curriculum.

Delivery of other programs as determined by the Department.

Maintaining and providing documentation of services delivered.

Reporting monthly attendance, program enrollments, and completions on the Department’s approved form, DC5-149 “Correctional Daily Attendance Roster” (Attachment #2).

Providing information on pre‑release connections of community providers and employers for inmate release planning services to facility release officers.

Assisting the Pre‑Release Employment Navigators with hiring events, mock interviews, pre‑release job search, recruitment, and readiness portfolio development through face‑to‑face and technology‑based interactions.

Qualifications

An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university or a high school diploma, plus two (2) years of professional experience in workforce development, social services, or corrections.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry.

Bonus Points

Additional associate’s degree and one year of experience in social services or corrections.
