Job Description
An AFAD Operator is an entry-level position with great potential for advancement. AFAD (Automatic Flagger Assistance Device) devices assist in traffic control operations. An operator will be fully trained in setting up, maintaining, and operating these devices. Devices are operated from a tablet; experience with technology, smartphones, or gaming devices is a benefit.
Responsibilities
Assist the Operator Lead with traffic setup or any other tasks they may call upon.
Occasionally assist in manually flagging on the road.
Help maintain a safe working environment for customers and coworkers.
Complete daily paperwork, tracking labor times and equipment counts.
Assist with setup and breakdown of the AFAD units.
Assist with setup and breakdown of the work site.
Wear proper PPE: hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe boots, vest.
Work long hours, including weekends and night shifts.
Participate in on‑call rotation.
Complete paperwork using company applications (Paylocity, TCR & Doforms).
Perform any other duties assigned by the Manager.
Qualifications
Computer and smart device experience, or willingness to learn.
HS diploma or equivalent; technology experience and equipment operator experience preferred.
Ability to travel within the state.
Pass pre‑employment drug and alcohol screening.
Ability to pull, back, and operate trailers.
Valid driver’s license and clean MVR.
Ability to stand long periods with breaks.
Bend, climb, walk, and lift up to 75 pounds.
Basic math skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong work ethic.
