
Ford Certified Transmission Technician

Job Description
The Transmission Technician is responsible for servicing and repairing vehicles as assigned by the Service Advisor or the Service Manager. In addition, the Transmission Technician must have special knowledge regarding the diagnosis, repair, and replacement of vehicle transmissions. The ideal Transmission Technician has a high school diploma/GED, an unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record, at least one year of dealer-level or large facility experience, post secondary automotive training, ASE certification (or is willing to obtain certification), and a strong technical performance record.
Responsibilities
Expertly diagnoses issues based upon experience, analysis, and testing; in particular, vehicle transmissions
Maintains leading-edge knowledge of automotive diagnosis technology, digital manuals, and reference materials
Possesses an increasingly broad knowledge of how vehicles' complex components work and interact
Performs routine service inspections and tests and lubricates engines and other major components
Repairs automobiles and light trucks that run on gasoline, electricity, or alternative fuels, such as ethanol
Adapts to rapidly changing technologies in the automotive industry and in the diagnostics arena
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years old
High school diploma or GED
Post high school tech school or ASE certification desired
One year of experience in a dealership or large facility repair organization
An impressive work ethic
Neat, clean, and professional appearance
Unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record
Can operate a standard-transmission vehicle
