Job Purpose Statement:
The job of – CTE Teacher is designed for the purpose/s of developing students’ academic and interpersonal skills through academic courses of study and implementing District approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of students; providing a safe and optimal learning environment; providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations and goals. The focus of this position is to provide career and technical education around the Arts, Woodworking, and Welding Design.
Job Qualifications & Licensure
BA/BS in aligned field of study to the position
Valid TSPC endorsements, or ability to obtain prior to position start date.
Career & Technical Education endorsement in the Arts, along with wood and metal fabrication, or 2000 hours of industry experience to apply towards attaining a CTE endorsement prior to position start date.
Demonstrated ability to relate positively with students, teachers, administrators, employers, parents, and the community
Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities
Provide a variety of classroom techniques and methods.
Promote high levels of achievement in relation to individual student abilities.
Use techniques and methodologies appropriate to student abilities.
Organize instruction using learning objectives with clearly defined student outcomes.
Employ teaching strategies congruent with planned student outcomes.
Select teaching strategies emphasizing student involvement.
Monitor student learning and pace instruction accordingly.
Develop and maintain an environment conducive to effective student learning.
Develop written rules of classroom behavior and safety.
Enforce written rules for classroom behavior.
Communicate course goals and academic expectations to students.
Essential Job Functions
Instructs and prepares students for appropriate entry-level welding and woodworking skills.
Instructs students on the basic skills of photography and visual arts
Establishes appropriate learning goals and objectives; develops effective lesson plans.
Assess student needs, current skill levels and knowledge; delivers instruction that meets the needs of all students.
Establishes and maintains a well-disciplined and orderly classroom-learning environment.
Establishes and maintains safety policies and procedures for classrooms and work sites.
Develops, updates, and maintain students’ training records.
Assesses students for learning and provides timely and necessary feedback to students.
Maintains accurate and thorough records of student attendance, achievement and behavior.
Develops student awareness of industries employment needs and requirements.
Instructs students in appropriate job seeking and retention skills.
Guides students in making career-related decisions; informs students about job opportunities.
Works under standardized instructions and /or routines focusing primarily on results.
Promotes student and community wide awareness of CTE programs and recruits students.
Operates within a defined budget and /or financial guidelines.
Performs multiple technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job requirements.
Develops as a professional educator.
Workplace Expectations
Work effectively with and respond to people from diverse cultures or backgrounds.
Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior, speech and dress in a neat, clean and appropriate professional manner for the assignment and work setting.
Have regular and punctual attendance.
Confer regularly with staff and immediate supervisor.
Follow all District policies, work procedures and reasonable requests by proper authority.
Maintain the integrity of confidential information relating to a student, family, colleague or District patron.
