Design Coordinator Custom Kitchens Bespoke Joinery

HIKINEX, New York, NY, United States

Design Coordinator — Custom Kitchens & Bespoke Joinery
Location: New York, NY

Compensation: $85,000 – $105,000 | Based on Experience

Employment Type: Full-Time, On-Site

About the Role
Our client is a fourth-generation luxury design and manufacturing company with studios in New York, London, and Vienna, known for producing custom kitchens, bespoke furniture, and highend joinery for the world's most prestigious private residences. They are seeking an enthusiastic, technically strong Design Coordinator to join their New York team.

In this role you will be embedded in the full project lifecycle — working alongside the Project Manager and Technical Designer from kick-off through close-out. You will be responsible for translating design intent into precise technical drawings for production and installation, coordinating across departments, and serving as the critical link between the NYC team and the company's manufacturing facilities in Europe. The work is detailed, collaborative, and uncompromising in its standards.

What We're Looking For
This role is equal parts technical and collaborative. The ideal candidate thinks like a maker — they understand how things are built, not just how they look on paper.

Technically proficient in AutoCAD (2D and 3D) with experience producing manufacturing and installation drawings

Understands modern furniture and joinery construction techniques from the inside out

Detail-oriented in a way that matters — asking “How am I going to build this?” before finalizing any detail

A proactive communicator who keeps teams aligned without being prompted

Collaborative by nature, with the ability to work fluidly across design, production, and site teams

Core Responsibilities
Technical Drawing & Documentation

Create technical production drawings, manufacturing drawings, and installation drawings for luxury bespoke kitchen and joinery projects

Undertake site surveys and produce setting‑out drawings based on field conditions

Analyze and overlay drawing revisions to identify and document changes

Coordinate and brief the Technical Designer on project-specific requirements

Project Coordination

Support the Project Manager across the full project lifecycle, from kick-off through installation close‑out

Manage project timelines and track drawing deliverables against production schedules

Liaise directly with the company's European production and manufacturing facilities to develop and resolve technical details

Coordinate with the on‑site installation team to ensure smooth execution from delivery through final fit

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

Maintain active communication with multiple internal departments throughout the project lifespan

Contribute proactively to problem‑solving across design, production, and installation phases

Qualifications

Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and 3D — required; must be able to produce construction ready drawings independently

Experience in luxury furniture, custom cabinetry, bespoke joinery, or high‑end interior fit‑out

Strong understanding of material properties, furniture construction methods, and manufacturing processes

Experience with project planning and timeline management

Excellent written and verbal communication skills — able to coordinate clearly across time zones and disciplines

Sharp attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues before they accelerate

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

The Opportunity
This is an exceptional opportunity to build your career within a company whose work represents the very top of the luxury custom market. Our client offers a competitive compensation package ($85,000–$105,000 based on experience), a comprehensive benefits package, and a creative, craft‑focused team environment unlike anything in the mass‑market world. If you are a technically strong designer with a maker's mindset and a passion for precision, this is the role for you.

Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
