Job Description
Demonstrate knowledge of the sport to be coached and help each participant achieve a high level of skill and appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship, and increased self‑esteem. As head coach, plan, oversee, and articulate a program across the elementary to varsity continuum.
Oversee and hire a competent staff of assist/feeder program coaches (when applicable)
Schedule contests for the team
Fundraise and balance program funds
Adhere to all KHSAA and BOE requirements for coaches
Create and lead practices to improve the team
Work with the strength and conditioning coach to schedule sessions to improve athletes’ overall physical fitness
Communicate to parents/guardians team expectations and schedule
Work with school administration regularly
For this type of employment, state law requires a national and state criminal history background check and a letter from the Cabinet for Health and Family Services confirming no findings of substantiated child abuse or neglect.
