
Legal Claims Handler -Professional Lines

Position Overview
Zurich North America Claims is looking for a Legal Claims Professional to work within our Professional Programs group. The role operates in a hybrid model with flexibility and occasional in‑office attendance required at one of the following locations.

Parsippany, New Jersey
New York World Trade Center
Responsibilities
Handle Professional Liability claims of moderate to high complexity under limited supervision.
Review complaints, legal pleadings, discovery, arbitration demands and perform coverage analysis.
Determine exposure, set reserves, and resolve claims in accordance with best practices and authority limits.
Communicate with customers, brokers, program administrators, underwriters and internal stakeholders.
Draft coverage determinations, case summary reports, and prepare for trial.
Manage defense counsel and litigation strategy within guidelines and budgets.
Participate in mediations and negotiate settlements.
Maintain accurate documentation, reserves, and reporting in compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
Basic Qualifications
Juris Doctor and five or more years of legal experience in an insurance or professional liability area.
Possession and maintenance of required adjuster license(s).
Experience in insurance claims and the legal and regulatory environment.
Negotiation and customer‑service experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
Member of the Bar.
Experience handling claims in ELP, E&O, and/or insurance coverage defense.
Analytical, strong communication, organizational, and time‑management skills.
Ability to multitask and work independently across cross‑functional teams.
Insurance designations such as SCLA, CPCU, AIC.
Compensation & Benefits
Proposed salary range is $140,000 to $165,000 with a short‑term incentive bonus eligibility of 15%. Eligible for bonuses and merit increases. Comprehensive benefits are offered to employees and their families.
