A Day in the Life
The Water Operations Technician begins each day by reporting to work and attending briefings, then inspects and monitors water system components—pipes, valves, pumps, filters—taking readings and collecting samples. Routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning filters and replacing worn parts, are performed alongside repairs of malfunctioning components. In water treatment plants the technician operates treatment processes, monitors and adjusts parameters, and documents all activities, records data, and prepares reports. When emergencies arise the technician responds promptly to mitigate situations and restore operations. Continued training ensures the technician stays current with new technologies and regulations.
