Position Summary
The N.D.E. Inspector in the pipe shop area is responsible for identifying surface and subsurface defects, conducting non‑destructive testing (N.D.E.) to ensure the quality of pipes in a manufacturing setting. This role involves using various testing methods, equipment, and techniques to assess the integrity and quality of finished products.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Frequent lifting of test blocks weighing from 5# to 25#.
Perform varied postures for ultrasonic inspection, including dynamic standing, forward and side reaching, handling, fingering, feeling and near/far acuity.
Perform varied postures for general non‑destructive testing (NDT) inspection—climbing stairs, bending, stooping, kneeling, turning, talking and hearing.
Operate overhead and jib cranes for NDT inspection with dynamic standing, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling and acuity.
Operate a forklift for NDT inspection, involving dynamic climbing, standing, stooping, bending, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling and acuity.
Required Skills
Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
No possibility of shift work interruption. Final decision: “The successful applicant must be willing to work shift work and various shifts.”

Education
High school diploma or GED.
Technical training or certification related to manufacturing operations is a plus.
Experience
Additional vocational training or certification in Non‑Destructive Testing (NDT) methods preferred.
2‑3 years of relevant N.D.E. inspection experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in pipe fabrication or similar industries.
Certification(s) in specific N.D.E. techniques (e.g., ASNT Level II or III certification in UT, PT) highly desirable.
Proficiency in using ultrasonic and penetrant testing equipment. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to interpret test results accurately.
Work Conditions
Job requires frequent sitting, occasional standing, walking, reaching, and the use of taste or smell.
Frequent lifting or moving up to 10 pounds, occasionally up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
Work near moving mechanical parts is frequent.
Noise level is usually moderate.
Shift Schedule
Applicants must be open to any shift: 1st shift 6 am‑2 pm, 2nd shift 2 pm‑10 pm, 3rd shift 10 pm‑6 am.
