ELECTRICIAN (E&I Tech)
The Master Electrician/Technician installs, maintains, and repairs electrical and instrumentation/control systems, including high‑voltage and refrigeration equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency across all plant operations.

Purpose
Successfully handle all electrical and instrumentation/control tasks, ensuring systems operate safely and efficiently. Maintain compliance with the Electric Code, OSHA standards, and company safety programs.

License Requirements

Electrical Journeyman License from the state of Michigan (required after 12 months or Step 3 of the Progression Training Unit).

Section 608 Technician Certification for Refrigeration Handling (required after 18 months or Step 4 of the PTU).

Essential Functions

Maintain knowledge of the Electric Code and best practices; ensure all work complies.

Adhere to OSHA standards, company safety programs, and policies related to installation and repair.

Enforce safety standards at all times.

Install new or existing electrical and instrumentation/control systems; may assist in the electrical design process.

Perform electrical maintenance on a variety of plant equipment (≤480 V) including circuit breakers, relays, motors, wiring, conduit, and related systems.

Execute verbal or written operating orders and instructions from the Plant Manager.

Inspect and test components of electrical and instrumentation/control systems.

Ensure all necessary materials are available and arrive on site.

Monitor performance of equipment, gauges, and charts across satellite boilers, chilled water, wastewater treatment plants, and buildings; record statistical data and maintain operations.

Repair malfunctions in the satellite, chilled water, wastewater treatment plants, and buildings; handle gauges, pumps, filters, and related controls.

Diagnose root causes of issues and develop logical solutions.

Read and interpret operating orders, blueprints, schematics, and sketches.

Use tools and diagnostic devices for servicing and installing parts.

Inspect plant equipment for efficiency and safety, identify defects or hazards, and take corrective action; recommend procedural improvements.

Approve or reject new, rebuilt, or repaired equipment under Plant Manager delegation.

Report equipment status, conditions, and repair requests to the Plant Manager and other operators.

Use a computer terminal to process work requests and enter maintenance information.

Assist vendor representatives with plant equipment repairs as needed.

Apply company safety and health policies, and write Safe Job Procedures and Job Safety Analyses when requested.

Work assigned shift schedules, long hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends; be prepared for relocation to other local Company locations during emergencies.

Complete all required paperwork promptly (timesheets, logs, daily reports, etc.).

Respond quickly to emergency call‑outs.

Non‑Essential Functions

Assist other employees of any classification as directed.

Perform housekeeping duties such as cleaning motors, pumps, control panels, floors, and restrooms.

Fill in positions for others as directed.

Perform other work as directed, including training of personnel.

Continue educational growth by attending company‑sponsored classes and seminars.

Minimum Qualifications

High school graduate or GED.

Five or more years of experience in the electrical and/or instrumentation/controls trade.

Good eyesight, hearing, and manual dexterity.

Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Valid state driver’s license.

Capability to work in diverse environments (cold weather, confined spaces, high areas, elevated temperature and humidity).

Ability to lift 30 lbs, climb steps, ladders, and scaffolding.

Proficiency in practical arithmetic involving fractions and decimals, and knowledge of common weights and measures.

Capacity to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.

Willingness to work any shift and respond to emergency call‑outs.

Mechanical aptitude, ability to read precision measuring equipment, and skilled use of hand tools.

Operate with little supervision.

Present a professional company image when engaging visitors, customers, and vendors.

Qualifications

Programmable logic controllers.

Industrial maintenance.

Electrical & Instrumentation (E & I).

Forklift certification.

OSHA 10.

Crane certification.
