Project Civil Engineer – Utilities
Location:
Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, or Wasilla.
Classification:
Permanent, Full-Time, Exempt.
Overview
R&M’s Utilities Group designs and oversees a range of civil engineering projects for Alaska utilities and community partners. Projects include water and wastewater treatment facilities, pipe network design, booster and lift stations, water systems for remote communities, and preliminary studies for future infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients to resolve technical challenges and advance project design.
Develop water and sewer plans, profiles, facility layouts, and hydraulic calculations using advanced 3D design software.
Create accurate engineering drawings, specifications, and cost estimates that meet client and industry standards.
Prepare engineering reports and permit applications to support agency review and permitting.
Produce graphics, figures, and materials for public, client, and team meetings.
Communicate site findings and project status in written reports and during meetings.
Track project progress relative to scope, budget, and schedule; raise issues proactively to management.
Support marketing efforts by researching and writing technical portions of proposals.
Supervise staff engineers, technicians, and interns and coordinate project deliverables with other disciplines.
Represent R&M in professional organizations and community activities.
Qualifications
B.S. in Civil Engineering and 5–10 years of utilities‑focused civil engineering experience.
Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience writing engineering reports, designing water and sewer systems, hydraulic modeling, and permitting.
Alaska Professional Engineering License or ability to obtain one within six months of hire.
