Community Health Educator
to initiate its COSSUP activities (Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Use Site-based Program). This is an in-person role, five days a week at the St. Louis County Jail. This position is funded through the DOJ Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Use Site-based Program (COSSUP) and will remain funded through 9/30/2026.
The role includes supporting substance use education and interventions within Corrections Medicine, creating and refining intake and discharge planning for patients engaged with treatment, and building a pipeline for assessing contraband for testing via Project EAGLEFANG.
Responsibilities
Identify and assist in connection to care intake
Develop discharge planning with patients and assist in ensuring continuity of care upon discharge
Facilitate substance use education within the jail population
Establish and build community partnerships to collaborate and assist in continuity of care
Support Project EAGLEFANG by collecting samples to be tested
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Equivalent to three years of experience in health care or community outreach, counseling, or teaching responsibilities
Preference may be given to applicants who have Corrections Medicine work experience
Possession of a current and valid driver's license
The starting salary range is $17.21 - $20.65 hourly depending upon the candidate's qualifications as well as budgetary considerations.
