Material Handler I
As a Material Handler I you will fill orders, move materials between cells and departments, check identification for quantities and part numbers, and perform inventory transactions in the business system.
Responsibilities
Unload, move, and store a variety of materials, parts, or products and conduct bin maintenance as needed
Unload incoming materials, check identification for quantities and part numbers, report shortages or damaged material, and move to storage areas
Move materials between cells, following routing, delivery tickets, or orders
Fill orders from storage areas and warehouse stock and deliver to designated cells
Operate hand truck to move materials and stack loaded pallets
Load outgoing trucks using a hand truck or pallet jack
Release and maintain the status of Kanbans and report on late orders
Accurately perform inventory transactions in the G&W business system
Perform cycle counts as requested
Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
Contribute to team effort by training others in the performance of material handler tasks as needed
Inspect all work prior to passing it on to the next operation
Document actions by completing production and quality forms
Qualifications
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience and skill development
0-1 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment (ideally)
Ability to safely use pallet jacks and other manual moving equipment
Ability to read and interpret Bills of Material
Basic to intermediate computer skills
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with others to support manufacturing processes
Previous warehouse or manufacturing experience (ideally)
Physical Demands
Classified as Medium-Heavy Physical Demand Level by the US Dept. of Labor
Lifting up to 75 pounds occasionally (floor-to-waist with assistance)
Lifting up to 40 pounds frequently (floor-to-waist)
Carrying up to 40 pounds occasionally up to 25 feet
Push/Pull up to 40 pounds frequently
Push/Pull >40 pounds occasionally with assistance
Standing, walking continuously; bending/stooping and squatting/kneeling frequent; lifting frequent
Manipulation, variable hand/power tool use frequent; two-person tasks using assistive devices include hand trucks, pallet jacks, hoists, etc.
