
Associate/Social Services Specialist (I/II/III)

Job Location:
Buchanan County, Missouri.
Responsibilities
Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with partnering agencies that serve children and families.
Assist families to attain and maintain stability through appropriate casework, home management, or referral to more skilled counseling treatment.
Interact with law enforcement, juvenile officers, other public officials, and community organizations regarding family and child issues.
Represent the Children’s Division during court hearings and other meetings related to case work.
Respond to the needs of children in their homes and throughout the community, providing transportation when needed.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Associate Social Services Specialist
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent. Alternative: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or comparable human services field (substitutions allowed).
Experience:
Four or more years of professional experience in protective services (casework/case management in investigation of abuse or neglect, coordination of foster care, adoptions, family‑centered services, treatment/rehabilitation, in‑home crisis intervention) and possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license.
Social Services Specialist (II)
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent. Alternative: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or comparable human services field (substitutions allowed).
Experience:
Five or more years of professional experience in protective services. If holding a Bachelor’s degree, at least one year of professional experience is sufficient.
Possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license.
Social Services Specialist (III)
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent. Alternative: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or comparable human services field (substitutions allowed).
Experience:
Six or more years of professional experience in protective services. If holding a Bachelor’s degree, at least two years of professional experience is sufficient.
Possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to work a combination evening/weekend shift.
Excellent problem‑solving and time‑management skills.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Availability to be on the “on call” rotation one weekend a month.
Ability to travel throughout the State of Missouri as needed.
