Accounting & Finance Manager
Location: Glendale, Colorado (in‑office with option for hybrid) Department: Accounting/Finance Reports to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) FLSA Status: Full‑Time Exempt
USA Rugby is the national governing body for the sport of rugby union in the United States operating as a member of both World Rugby and the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC). It is responsible for overseeing all aspects of rugby, including youth, college and adult programs, men’s and women’s national teams including Olympic and World Cup teams, competitions, coaching education, and player development.
Position Overview
The Accounting & Finance Manager reports directly to the CFO and oversees the day‑to‑day financial operations, ensures accurate and timely reporting, and provides financial management support. This role blends hands‑on accounting with financial management, making it ideal for a professional wanting to work in both accounting and finance.
The manager will partner with and manage outsourced accounting staff, ensure all bills are paid, receivables collected, process payroll, manage month‑end close, support budgeting and forecasting, monitor cash flow and partner with CFO to drive financial clarity and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Reporting
Lead day‑to‑day accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll, expense reimbursements, company credit cards and general ledger
Manage month‑end and year‑end close processes
Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP for CFO review
Review account reconciliations and ensure data integrity
Coordinate annual audit activities and support external auditors
Provide financial systems administration for the organization’s financial systems including user management, training, and support.
Financial Planning & Analysis
Support development of annual budgets and rolling forecasts
Perform variance analysis working with budget owners to ensure that actuals and forecasts are accurate and provide actionable insights to CFO
Develop financial models to support strategic decisions and scenario planning
Monitor cash flow, working capital, and financial performance metrics
Compliance, Controls & Process Improvement
Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with policies and regulations
Oversee tax filings (1099s, 1042s, 990, VAT) and regulatory & grant reporting
Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance system efficiency
Leadership & Collaboration
Partner with and manage outsourced accounting staff
Establish clear expectations, workflows, and performance standards
Partner with budget owners to support operational and strategic initiatives
Qualifications
Required
Hands‑on, detailed oriented mindset with a willingness to roll up your sleeves
Customer service oriented (internal and external)
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
4+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
Strong systems skills (QuickBooks or similar ERP experience)
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Preferred
CPA, CMA, or equivalent credential
Experience in nonprofit environments
Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
Experience with Quickbooks Online, Ramp, Bill.com/Divvy, and Budgyt
Compensation & Benefits (Colorado EPEWA‑Compliant)
Compensation Range: $100,000 – $120,000 annually. The following represents the good‑faith salary range and benefits package for this role. Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
Incentive Opportunities: This role is eligible for annual performance bonus.
