Facilities Overview
The facilities team at the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation acts as a safeguard for the Foundation's physical assets and operational continuity. By proactively managing facility systems, the role transforms maintenance from a reactive expense into a strategic advantage that protects the bottom line. Our teams work diligently to ensure that our spaces are safe, functional and properly maintained for staff, guests, community and stakeholders.

Job Duties

Manage temperature and humidity for the building and specialized "micro-climate" systems for artifact cases to ensure air quality and preservation standards.

Troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical HVAC components, including removal and replacement of motors, fans, and compressors.

Perform routine preventive maintenance such as freon charging, belt/filter changes, and critical boiler blow-downs to prevent system failure.

Utilize Building Automation Systems (BAS) to remotely monitor and adjust HVAC, humidity, and boiler performance.

Provide cross-functional assistance for electrical, plumbing, and general facility repairs (drywall, paint, and doors) as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of all aspects of heating, ventilation, and refrigeration systems operation, repair, maintenance, and installation.

Skills in the use of HVAC diagnostic equipment and hand tools.

Demonstrated ability to install, repair, and maintain various HVAC systems such as chillers, boilers, mini-split and micro-climate systems.

Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose repair problems using schematics, blueprints, and manuals.

Ability to work in confined spaces and in all weather conditions.

Experience with or ability to learn BAS control systems.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work using CMMS.

Demonstrate a general knowledge of other skilled trades, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and masonry repairs.

Additional Considerations
Education, training, and certification in the skilled trades would be helpful. HVAC certification and work experience is preferred.
