
Network Engineer II - Enterprise Network Services - Columbia, South Carolina

The Network Engineer II supports enterprise network services across multiple departments within the organization. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing network infrastructure while ensuring high availability, performance, and security. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate across teams to support critical organizational operations.
Key Responsibilities
Support and maintain network infrastructure, including routing, switching, wireless networks, and VoIP systems
Manage and troubleshoot VPNs, firewalls, IP address management (IPAM), and authentication services
Evaluate, diagnose, and resolve complex network issues in a timely manner
Participate in the design, implementation, and optimization of network solutions
Contribute to network-related projects, providing input to improve performance, scalability, and efficiency
Develop and maintain technical documentation, processes, and procedures
Assist in change management efforts by identifying risks, minimizing disruptions, and ensuring smooth implementation
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support organizational initiatives and service delivery
Provide knowledge transfer, mentorship, and guidance to peers and junior staff
Maintain a high level of professionalism and deliver excellent customer service
Requirements
Strong experience with routing, switching, and network protocols
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
Hands‑on experience with wireless networking, VoIP, VPNs, firewalls, and authentication systems
Solid understanding of IP address management (IPAM)
Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in healthcare, academic, or research environments
