Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Truck Driver to safely and efficiently transport materials and equipment using tractor‑trailer combinations, including Removable Gooseneck (RGN) trailers. This role is critical to supporting our railroad and construction operations across the region.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect, load, and properly secure cargo on trailers prior to transport
Safely operate heavy‑duty trucks to assigned destinations for loading and unloading
Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip vehicle inspections (tires, brakes, lights, fluids, etc.)
Complete required logs, documentation, and delivery receipts in compliance with state and federal regulations
Maintain clear communication with dispatch and supervisors via company‑issued cell phone or radio
Conduct routine roadside maintenance and minor emergency repairs as needed
Operate company vehicles and equipment in a safe, professional manner
Participate in required safety training and customer‑specific certifications
Work overtime, weekends, and remain on‑call as dictated by operational needs
Qualifications
Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with required endorsements
Current DOT medical card (or ability to obtain and maintain)
TWIC card required
Minimum 1 year of verifiable heavy truck driving experience, preferably with RGN/lowboy trailers
Ability to safely load and secure specialized heavy equipment loads
Strong safety awareness and commitment to regulatory compliance
Basic mechanical aptitude for minor repairs and maintenance
Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and on‑call rotation
Clean driving record and ability to pass pre‑employment physical and drug screening
Preferred Skills
Experience operating end‑dump or belly‑dump trailers
Familiarity with heavy equipment (dozers, excavators, backhoes)
Previous construction or railroad industry experience
Physical Requirements
This position requires frequent standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and lifting. Employees must regularly lift and move up to 25 lbs and frequently lift/move up to 100 lbs. Must have adequate vision (including depth perception and color distinction) and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Work Environment
Primarily outdoor/field‑based work with exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration, high noise levels, and extreme weather. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided and required.
