Lead Field Test Technician – Fountain Valley, CA
Twining, an innovative engineering, testing, and inspection company with over 100 years of history, is seeking a Lead Field Test Technician to support specialized field testing and inspection services, including building enclosure, fenestration, waterproofing, roofing, air and water infiltration, anchor testing, and other project‑specific testing scopes. This position requires strong technical skills, field leadership, clear communication, and a commitment to quality and safety.
Responsibilities
Perform and lead field testing and inspection services on active construction and existing building projects
Conduct building enclosure, fenestration, waterproofing, roofing, and specialized field‑testing services
Perform water and air infiltration, mock‑up, whole building air leakage, anchor, adhesion, coating, methane barrier, and other project‑specific testing
Review project plans, specifications, and testing requirements, and coordinate site access, scheduling, logistics, equipment, and readiness with internal staff and project teams
Set up, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain field testing equipment and tools
Document test procedures, observations, deficiencies, results, and communicate field conditions, nonconforming work, and technical issues to project managers, clients, contractors, and consultants
Ensure services are performed in accordance with ASTM, AAMA, project specifications, manufacturer instructions, and company procedures, maintaining a high standard of quality and safety
Assist with training and mentoring junior field technicians
Support multi‑day, out‑of‑area, and travel‑based assignments as needed
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required
5+ years of relevant field testing, inspection, construction, or building enclosure experience preferred
Experience with field coordination, test setup, and technical documentation preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Windows software and applications and Adobe
Basic Understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and field conditions
Familiarity with ASTM, AAMA, and other applicable industry standards preferred
Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills
Ability to work independently and lead field activities with limited supervision
Ability to lift and carry testing equipment and work outdoors in varying conditions, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and accessing active construction areas safely
Ability to travel to local and out‑of‑area project sites and work overtime or adjusted hours based on project demands
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred
Fall protection or aerial lift training preferred
ICC or related inspection/testing certifications preferred
Valid driver’s license
