Overview
Part‑time faculty instructor position for the Summer 2026, Fall 2026, and Spring 2027 semesters, focusing on costume/makeup design within the Department of Performing Arts.
What You’ll Do
Provide comprehensive classroom instruction in costume and makeup design, including lectures, labs, and design courses.
Develop and assess student learning outcomes, assignments, and projects, providing timely feedback.
Plan and organize instruction aligned with approved course outlines and district goals.
Maintain accurate records of enrollment, attendance, progress, and course curriculum.
Select instructional materials and order them per bookstore procedures.
Revise course content in response to new theory, applications, and industry developments.
Collaborate with discipline faculty on syllabus updates and performance indicators.
Participate in curriculum and program development, committees, and departmental meetings.
Provide mentorship and guidance to a diverse and often marginalized student population.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s or Master of Fine Arts in drama/theater arts/performance or Bachelor’s or Bachelor of Fine Arts in drama/theater arts/performance combined with a Master’s in comparative literature, English, communication studies, speech, literature, humanities, or equivalent; or possession of a California Community College Credential.
Recognized accredited coursework. Degrees must match the specified titles or undergo equivalency review.
Professional credentials and portfolio exhibiting experience in stage, film, or television industries.
Strong leadership skills and experience mentoring in an educational environment.

Work Parameters
Instructor (Non‑Contract/Temporary) may be employed up to 67% of a full‑time assignment under Education Code section 87482.5.
