Job Summary
The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing robust data platforms and solutions that enable scalable, high‑quality data delivery across the enterprise. This role leverages advanced engineering principles, emerging AI technologies, and strong collaboration skills to drive innovation and operational excellence—without formal people management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Advanced Data Engineering & Platform Enablement
Develop, optimize, and maintain robust data pipelines and frameworks (including basekits and unified portals).
Support migration and integration of legacy systems into modern, AI‑powered platforms.
Agentic AI & GenAI Integration
Apply agentic frameworks and GenAI solutions to enhance data engineering capabilities.
Lead technical proof‑of‑concept projects to demonstrate practical AI adoption and drive efficiency improvements.
Technical Innovation & Problem Solving
Identify opportunities to leverage emerging technologies (GenAI, Databricks, LangGraph) for new ways of working.
Design and implement solutions that improve developer experience, stakeholder enablement, and operational efficiency.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
Deliver demos, technical sessions, and workshops to share solutions and best practices.
Collaborate with technical and non‑technical stakeholders to translate requirements into actionable engineering deliverables.
Community Contribution & Informal Mentorship
Share expertise and support upskilling efforts within technical communities (e.g., LangGraph and Data Engineering community).
Mentor peers informally, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
AI‑First Ways of Working
Utilize AI tools and frameworks to automate processes, improve productivity, and deliver measurable outcomes for stakeholders.
Serve as a subject‑matter expert (SME) for GenAI adoption in the Data Platform team.
Strong Engineering Principles
Apply rigorous engineering principles—including modular design, scalability, reliability, and maintainability—to build robust, enterprise‑grade data platforms and solutions.
Required Skills & Abilities
Minimum 3 – 5 years of data engineering experience.
Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new/emerging technologies in data engineering and AI.
Proven initiative in leading technical projects and driving adoption of innovative solutions.
Advanced communication skills, including experience presenting demos and technical concepts to broad audiences.
Strong collaboration and informal mentorship capabilities.
Expertise in Python, AI/ML frameworks, cloud platforms (AWS, Databricks), and modern data engineering tools.
Experience building and optimizing scalable, reusable data pipelines and frameworks.
Ability to align technical solutions with business objectives and stakeholder needs.
Compensation Overview
Princeton – NJ – US: $94,180 – $114,124
The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full‑time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee’s work schedule, job‑related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
