KAAST Machine Tools is a machine tool and fabrication equipment manufacturer based in the greater Philadelphia area. We offer one of the most extensive new metalworking machinery lineups in North America and are one of the fastest-growing machine tool manufacturers in the nation. Our products include CNC and conventional chip-making equipment (mills, lathes, saws, grinders) as well as a complete line of fabricating equipment (press brakes, shears, angle and plate rolls, plasma, and waterjet systems).
We are seeking a hands‑on Machine Tool Service Technician (shop and field) to join our Philadelphia team. This role involves maintaining, machine troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of machine tools to ensure optimal performance and safety. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, experience with mechanical and electrical systems, and excellent problem‑solving skills.
Tasks & Responsibilities
Prepare machines for shipment to end users.
Uncrate new machine tools, power up, perform full testing, and issue written inspection reports.
Perform customer demonstrations and operator walkthroughs.
Provide customer technical support by phone and on‑site service to mechanically troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve machine issues.
Accurately document service activities, repairs, and maintenance procedures.
Skills & Qualifications
Industrial machine installation and repair experience.
Hands‑on experience with machine tools (lathes, milling machines, saws, grinders, sheet metal machinery, etc.).
Strong mechanical aptitude and industrial electrical (3‑phase) knowledge.
Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to assist customers over the phone.
Additional skills with blueprint reading, schematic interpretation, hydraulic systems, pneumatics, PLC interface monitoring and servo drives is a plus.
Experience
Technician: 1‑3 years (Required)
Electrical: 1 year (Required)
Capital Equipment / Machine Tools: 1 year (Preferred)
This role is primarily based in our warehouse and showroom, with occasional travel for installations, major trade shows (IMTS, FABTECH), and large machine deliveries. Travel typically accounts for less than 50% of the position. As KAAST continues to grow and expand, the ideal candidate should be flexible and open to seasonal fluctuations in travel as needed.
Pay: $20‑$50/hour. We are seeking both entry‑level and experienced Service Technicians. Compensation will be based on experience and aligned with the level of the position.
