Job Title
CMM Programmer
Overview
The CMM Programmer works as a key member of the quality team to develop, maintain, and run Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programs using PC-DMIS software. This role verifies the dimensional accuracy of manufactured parts against blueprints and GD&T specifications, supports PPAP activities, and troubleshoots measurement issues in a high-volume, quality-critical automotive environment.
Hours
7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
Flexibility on start time when needed
Responsibilities
Develop, modify, and maintain CMM programs using PC-DMIS software to inspect manufactured parts.
Operate the CMM and make necessary program changes to ensure accurate and efficient measurement routines.
Verify the dimensional accuracy of parts against engineering blueprints and GD&T specifications.
Interpret and apply GD&T requirements to measurement strategies and inspection reports.
Support PPAP and other quality documentation requirements by providing accurate measurement data and reports.
Troubleshoot CMM measurement issues and resolve discrepancies related to part geometry or setup.
Collaborate with the quality team to ensure parts meet internal and customer quality standards in a high-volume environment.
Review and interpret blueprints to define inspection plans and measurement points.
Contribute to continuous improvement of measurement processes and quality procedures within the department.
Essential Skills
Proven ability to operate a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) in a production or quality environment.
Hands‑on experience making program changes and adjustments to CMM programs.
Working knowledge of PC‑DMIS software for CMM programming and operation.
Strong understanding of GD&T and its application to part inspection.
Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints and technical drawings.
Experience working in a high-volume, quality‑critical manufacturing environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience programming CMMs specifically with PC‑DMIS is highly preferred.
Formal degree or technical education in a related field such as engineering, manufacturing, or quality is a plus.
Experience supporting PPAP activities in an automotive environment is beneficial.
Background in automotive or aftermarket parts manufacturing is advantageous.
Work Environment
This role sits within a small, collaborative quality department that includes quality engineers, quality technicians, and a quality systems specialist. The position is based in a smaller manufacturing shop located in a very rural area, focused on producing aftermarket parts for the automotive sector as well as manufacturing lines for OEMs. Hands‑on production and quality environment where CMM equipment and PC‑DMIS software are used daily to ensure precise measurement and compliance with customer and industry standards.
