Job Description
As a Biometric Technician (BT), you will support the mission of a government program located in Dover, DE. You will work as part of a dynamic team of professionals assisting the USCIS Application Support Center (ASC) operations. Amentum provides all required job training for qualified candidates. This is an on‑call (casual) team member.
On‑call employees are expected to be available all five days, Monday through Friday from 7:45 am to 4:15 pm for substitute coverage as needed at the site. This is not a regular full‑time or part‑time position; hours are not guaranteed and are “as needed.” This role is a good fit for candidates seeking supplemental income and for those who want to be active in a work environment without a fixed schedule.
Primary Responsibilities
Complete biometrics registration for applicants seeking legal immigration to the United States.
Ensure all who enter the ASC are approved applicants and visitors while providing both interior and exterior crowd control and assisting the staff in enforcing the rules and policies of the ASC.
Provide front‑line customer service as representatives of Amentum and on behalf of the United States Government.
Highlights of Responsibilities
Perform quality biometrics processing (capturing electronic fingerprints, photographs, signatures) within established program‑wide processing times.
Screen applicants entering the facility to ensure they have a valid appointment notice and identification.
Utilize crowd control barriers (stanchions or rails) to ensure a safe and organized entry.
Visually inspect applicants and their belongings prior to allowing entry; during health crises, may be asked about illness status and may be declined entry.
Conduct periodic facility checks (interior and exterior) reporting concerns to the Site Supervisor.
Assist the Site Supervisor and/or government Immigration Service Officer in calling local law enforcement or first responders when necessary.
Manage and complete administrative paperwork such as tracking processing time, reconciling biometric data, maintaining a visitor control log, signing off on facility checks and other duties.
Required Qualifications
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. US citizenship is required for credentials at this work location.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must be able to speak and write in English.
Ability to stand upright on one’s feet for scheduled shift duration, excluding meals and breaks.
Ability to hold and grasp applicant’s hands to obtain quality fingerprints.
Ability to work in a high‑paced environment with the public.
Ability to type and use basic computer skills.
Successful completion of biometrics training and certification within sixty days.
Desired Skills
Ability to speak a foreign language.
Compensation Details
$18.04 per hour.
