
Critical Environments Operator IV

In this role, under the direction of the Sr. Facility Manager, you will team with others in an Operations & Maintenance organization that provides a variety of O&M services within a 24/7/365 environment. You will provide operational support for building systems across multiple facilities, carrying out maintenance and operations while preserving the reliability of critical loads.
What You Will Do
Report to the Sr. Facility Manager and effectively complete assigned tasks in the Operations & Maintenance program of the Data Center and any non-DC space(s) as assigned.
Know and understand the Owner’s building operations rules for the building(s) under your care and as provided by the DC Manager.
Use and teach others to use the Computerized Maintenance Management system (CMMS) to track all maintenance work, labor hours, preventative maintenance work orders, and reactive work tickets.
Use SOPS/MOPS/EOPs/MMRs as appropriate for site operations and maintenance.
Coordinate with contractors and vendors as needed for the safe accomplishment of maintenance and project work.
Respond to building system alarms, prioritizing first the preservation of critical load, second minimizing equipment or system damage, and third participating in root cause analysis to prevent further incidents.
Provide equipment and system operational modifications such as critical switching, lockout/tagout, and safe working area set‑up so that specialty subcontractors can perform duties while minimizing risk and protecting the critical load.
Ensure that high standards of workmanship are being met.
Comply with company, government, and client policies, procedures, and regulations as provided by the Sr. Facility Manager.
Be available for 24/7/365 work and emergency corrective maintenance or action activities.
Comply with all corporate and EHS requirements and programs as provided.
What We Are Looking For
Journeyman level skills in electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and fire and life safety disciplines, acquired through an associate’s degree or a technical training program, or through experience in a technical facility maintenance position supporting data center operations.
7+ years working in Tier 2, Tier 3 or Tier 4 Data Center(s) or in operations & maintenance and/or building engineering roles.
Familiarity with Work Order Control procedures and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
Experience with subcontractor and vendor contract management.
Experience managing key performance indicators as provided by Assistant or Chief Engineer.
Experience with capacity planning and reporting.
Proficient with hand tools, test equipment, and knowledgeable of maintenance shop practices at the Journeyman level for Electrical and Mechanical equipment and systems.
Able to respond to equipment alarms, troubleshoot systems through graphic user interfaces, and stabilize operations while OEM technicians are on site.
Skilled in using personal computers, especially Microsoft Word and Excel.
Demonstrated desire to provide the highest levels of customer service.
Cheerful and enthusiastic attitude.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Good problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
Ability to learn quickly and develop new product skills independently.
Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting workloads in a fast‑paced environment.
Knowledge of reflectance, length, and decibel loss within test equipment.
Knowledge of Visio and AutoCad is a plus.
Knowledge of ITIL framework and service level standards is a plus.
Willingness to adjust hours as required by the business, including being onsite for extended hours during emergency situations such as hurricanes or other storms.
Work Environment
Physical Setting: Highly secure, climate‑controlled data center environment.
Work Schedule: Standard working hours are Monday to Friday with on‑call responsibilities for emergencies and critical issues. Shifts vary and include nights, weekends, and holidays to ensure 24/7 coverage. Hours may change with business needs.
Physical Demands: The position involves significant physical activity, including standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and frequent bending and climbing ladders.
