Overview
The Pathology Experience and Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist I role helps support daily laboratory operations and ensures cases move through the system smoothly. Responsibilities include reviewing case distribution in the Laboratory Information System (LIS), helping identify cases that need follow-up, assisting with quality assurance tasks, and providing support to clinics and clinicians.

Responsibilities
Support daily monitoring and maintenance of case distribution within the Laboratory Information System (LIS), including schedules, capacity limits, clinician preferences, and pathologist profiles, while investigating and resolving aging or unfinalized cases.
Assist in coordinating Quality Assurance (QA) activities, including collecting and inputting key performance indicator (KPI) and quality metric data.
Maintain logs of specimen submission issues, corrective actions, and quality records; prepare documentation for internal and external audits and accreditation activities.
Organize, update, and maintain policies, procedures, shared documents, and digital repositories to ensure accurate and accessible records.
Serve as a point of contact for clinic and clinician inquiries, providing timely communication, issue resolution, and escalation when appropriate.
Coordinate pathology outreach initiatives, including management of expenses related to dermatopathology support and outreach programs.
Support pathologist onboarding and contribute to scheduling, workload prioritization, and operational coordination to maintain laboratory efficiency.
Assist with performance improvement initiatives, special projects, and other administrative, operational, or quality-related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Strong attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and timelines effectively.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a professional, tactful, and customer-focused demeanor.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and ability to learn laboratory information and clinic EMR systems.
Comfortable working with data, quality metrics, and tracking information to support operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize workload, and work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Demonstrates accountability, sound judgment, and the ability to seek clarification or escalate issues when appropriate.
Maintains strict confidentiality, professionalism, and a compassionate, service-oriented approach when interacting with others.
Knowledge of general medical terminology preferred.
