Goodwill of Central Iowa is looking for a Part‑Time Store Clerk to accept, sort, and merchandise donated goods, operate a cash register, and deliver outstanding customer service with our values of love, kindness, and respect.

Successful candidates have:

Flexibility and a positive teamwork attitude

Effective communication and basic math skills – point‑of‑sale (POS) system experience is a plus.

Benefits:

Competitive starting wage of $14.50/hour

Weekend shift premium of $1.00/hour on Saturdays and Sundays

Eligibility for a monthly bonus for retail associates based on production and revenue goals

Shifts Monday – Saturday: 8 am – 10 pm; Sunday: 11 am – 6 pm

Store Clerks will serve as the first point of contact for Goodwill of Central Iowa’s retail customers at the sales floor or donation door. The position provides excellent customer service, operates the cash register, selects and rotates merchandise, cleans and organizes fixtures, and processes donated goods.

What you’ll do:

Greet, assist and engage customers in a helpful and courteous manner.

Receive donations from the public and sort, stack and organize them.

Ensure the quality of goods meets standards.

Arrange and rotate items on the sales floor with supervisors, keeping merchandise organized and accessible.

Practice safe cash handling and operate the cash register, including calculating and balancing cash as scheduled.

Carry out general cleaning tasks: sweeping, scrubbing, dusting and mopping.

Use a dolly, wheeled cart, pallet jack, and possibly a forklift.

Meet daily production goals.

Perform other duties as assigned.

What you’ll need:

A high school diploma, current enrollment in high school, GED, or a minimum of four years of combined military service, high school, or related full‑time paid employment.

Availability to work days, evenings, and weekends.

Physical ability to carry, lift, push or pull up to 40 pounds.

Tolerance of temperature variations in the work environment.

Capacity to stand for extended periods of time.

Minimum age 16 years.

Effective communication and basic math skills.

Must pass a criminal background check and a dependent adult and child abuse background check.

*This position requires a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, and weekends to support business needs.
