Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the school principal, develop students' skills and competence in aspects relating to the healthcare industry. Students will be prepared for entry level positions into the healthcare industry and/or academic programs in a post secondary academic setting.
Qualifications and Experience
Two years or more of wage-earning experience in the area of certification / licensure
Health Science 6-12 certification or requisite experience to comply with district of innovation requirements
Current licensure, certification or registration by a nationally recognized accrediting agency as a health professional practitioner, RN preferred
Comply with federal, state, and local regulations related to the occupational area assigned
Prior teaching experience desired
Instructional Strategies
Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, administrative regulations and healthcare standards.
Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials and equipment that reflect the understanding of the learning styles and needs of students.
Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
Student Growth and Development
Help students analyze and improve study methods / habits.
Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
Be a positive role model for students, support the mission of the school district.
Prepare students for certification exams in accordance with designated instructional pathway.
Classroom Management and Organization
Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
Communication
Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals and teachers.
Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents and community members.
Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Professional Growth and Development
Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills
Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
Compile, maintain and file all physical and computerized reports, records and other documents required.
Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
Maintain all CEUs as required by professional licensure / certification.
Complete work based learning training requirements.
Complete classroom management required for all work experience doi credentialed teachers
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise assigned teacher aide(s).
Supervise student learners as required at off campus locations.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move textbooks, media equipment, desks and other classroom equipment. Maintain all healthcare equipment utilized in classroom setting.
Additional Duties
Performs related tasks as assigned by principal and other central office administrators as designated by the superintendent.
Equipment
Use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, copy and fax machines, telephone. Equipment standard to healthcare facilities.
Travel Requirements
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. May require travel to off campus locations for supplemental student instruction.

$58,000-$70,000 based on experience
$225 monthly insurance contribution
