Overview

Sidwell Friends School, a co-educational Quaker day school, seeks a Middle School 7th and 8th grade Math teacher who genuinely appreciates and actively supports the Quaker philosophy that underlies our school for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time benefits-eligible position is based on the Washington, DC, campus and begins in late August 2026.
Responsibilities

Teach two sections of 7th grade Pre-Algebra and two sections of 8th grade Algebra with two levels of each course, and support or challenge a range of middle school students in mathematical thinking.
Advise a group of 7th and 8th grade students; write student reports; communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and families.
Participate in other faculty duties such as recess and lunch supervision.
Other duties as assigned that are logically related to the position.
Qualifications & Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required, preferably in Math or Education; an advanced degree is preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience, preferably at the middle school level.
Experience teaching Math, preferably Pre-Algebra and Algebra.
Demonstrates a clear understanding of the needs of middle school students.
Demonstrates the ability to work cooperatively with a team.
An appreciation and respect for the School’s Quaker values and the School’s mission.
Demonstrates the ability to understand the age group and be excited about working with children from diverse backgrounds.
Salary

Salary Range $62,407 - $140,253. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
