Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Security Guard I - Variable Shifts - Security - Security - Full-Time - Variable Shifts. In this role, the successful candidate patrols hospital buildings and grounds. Holds post on an assigned shift protecting patients, visitors, volunteers, employees, and property. Responds to hospital emergencies and provides staff support on access control and special activities as required.
Job Responsibilities:
Performs other duties as assigned.
Greets patients, visitors, and employees and responds to inquiries courteously and promptly; identifies self clearly and concisely when requested; provides directions to visitors and refers matters outside scope to appropriate personnel, keeping patients and others informed.
Protects and safeguards hospital properties and installations; patrols surrounding areas to ensure environmental orderliness, locks and opens doors as needed, secures restricted areas, checks fire hoses, stairwells, etc. Operates and monitors security systems (alarms, TV surveillance, access control, digital recording, CCTV). Maintains Identification Card system and distribution process, updates employee access levels. Provides security escorts as directed.
Observes visitors, answers questions, investigates reported losses, suspicious or unusual situations. Escorts unruly or unauthorized personnel from hospital premises politely and professionally. May restrain violators and provide incident reports.
Explains hospital security policies and procedures to visitors, staff, and assists other departments in controlling visitor traffic as required. Maintains package control policy in accordance with procedure.
Responds promptly to fire alarms and other emergencies using established communication systems, unlocks doors, directs affected populations to safety, assists fire brigade or other responders.
Detains law violators, represents hospital in legal cases, testifies as needed, prepares legal documents. Directs traffic, guards officials and ceremonies, may drive hospital vehicles.
Maintains presence as deterrence to crime; patrols assigned areas on foot; confronts or questions unauthorized individuals; responds to all security calls and incidents; takes control and resolves incidents quickly.
Directs and monitors vehicle traffic in and around hospital to maintain a safe environment; manages traffic during emergency to allow emergency vehicles access.
Assists patients with special needs to enter or exit; escorts employees, patients, and visitors to parking; directs patients and visitors to waiting areas to prevent blocking hallways.
Initiates corrective actions for safety issues and communicates to Security Manager.
Performs general office and record‑keeping tasks: daily log, incident reports, missing property reports, and other reports requested by Security Manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Current and valid NYS Security Guard License.
Current and valid CPR and AED certification obtained within 90 days of hire.
Current and valid Crisis Prevention/Intervention certification obtained within 90 days of hire.
Strong communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and customer service skills.

Salary range for the role is $63,094.28 – $63,094.28 annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. Salary range does not include bonuses or other compensation.
