Purpose Statement
The job of Teacher is done for the purpose of providing support to the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students' parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.
Reports to: Principal
Essential Functions
Adapts classroom work for students with individualized learning plans within established lesson plans.
Administers developmental testing programs and subject specific assessments (e.g., DIBELS, AZELLA, GALILEO, Eureka Math) to assess student competency levels and/or develop individual learning plans.
Advises parents and legal guardians of student progress through progress reports, report cards, phone calls, and behavioral plans.
Assesses student progress toward objectives, expectations, and/or goals, providing feedback to students, parents, and administration.
Collaborates with instructional staff, school personnel, parents, and community resources to improve student outcomes and meet school improvement objectives.
Coordinates activities (e.g., field trips, lesson plans) to ensure availability of equipment, materials, and personnel.
Counsel students through initiatives such as Essential 8 and High Five to improve performance and personal growth.
Demonstrates methods required to perform classroom and subject assignments for an effective program that addresses individual student needs.
Directs paraprofessionals, student teachers, volunteers, and student workers to deliver classroom programs.
Implements academic, behavior, health, and nutrition plans to comply with regulations and encourage parent involvement.
Instructs students to improve academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills.
Manages student behavior in varied educational environments to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
Models appropriate social behavior for a culturally sensitive setting.
Participates in meetings such as Promethean board training, building safety, data, IEP, and 504 meetings.
Prepares written and electronic materials such as grades, attendance, anecdotal records, progress reports, and emails for documentation.
Reports incidents (e.g., fights, suspected abuse) to maintain student safety and comply with Education Code.
Other Functions
Performs related duties as assigned to ensure efficient functioning of the work unit.

Apply assessment instruments; operate office equipment and software; prepare and maintain accurate records.
Perform basic math calculations with fractions, percentages, and ratios; read technical information; compose documents; facilitate group discussions; analyze situations to define issues.
Understand policies, regulations, laws, age-appropriate activities, lesson plan requirements, child development stages, and behavioral management strategies.
Schedule activities, meetings, and events; gather, collate, and classify data; use job-related equipment.
Work flexibly with diverse individuals; solve problems independently; maintain confidentiality and exhibit tact.
Responsibility
Work under limited supervision using standardized practices; direct other persons within a small work unit; track budget expenditures; utilize resources from other work units. Physical demands include occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling; climbing; stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; fine finger dexterity. Typical time: 30% sitting, 30% walking, 40% standing.
Experience
Job related experience is required.
Education
Bachelor's degree in a job-related area.
Certificates and Training
Arizona Teaching Credential; maintain certificates and licenses.
Clearances
Criminal Justice Fingerprint / Background Clearance.
