Essential Functions
Assists in the development of policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure quality and cost control
Collaborates with other teams to improve efficiency, productivity and processes
Conducts distribution and network studies, monitors inventory and analyzes requirements to develop strategies to achieve desired delivery times and order fill rates
Maintains appropriate records and prepares reports
Coordinates logistics activities with internal/external customers
May also include responsibilities for Inventory Control, including:
Ensuring that inventories are secure, properly identified and readily accessible to authorized personnel
Maintains controls over various types of inventories (e.g., raw materials, subassemblies, finished goods)
Conducts physical inventory counts and reconciles results with inventory records
Ensures that quantities of incoming and outgoing shipments are correct
Conducts analyses of inventory levels and coordinates with production and sales requirements
Physical Requirements
Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time
Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities
May need to stand for long periods of time
Work primarily in a climate‑controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential
Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery
This position is Safety‑Sensitive
Required Qualifications
Required education and experience:
Associate's Degree and 5‑7 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred education and experience:
Bachelor’s Degree
Discipline/Major:
Business or Supply Chain Management preferred
Knowledge, skills & abilities:
Oral and written communication skills; computer skills; mathematical skills; analytical thinking skills; statistical knowledge; problem‑solving skills
Certification:
Hazmat certification
Practical Knowledge Of:
Regulations governing movement of materials requiring Transportation Protective Services (TPS)
Carrier invoicing and application to appropriate program finance reporting needs
Shipment platforms (e.g. Agistix) for scheduling, tracking and managing individual shipment transactions
US and International Customs Brokerage activities
Hazardous materials shipping and documentation requirements
International Airlines Transportation Association (IATA) and International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG)
