Job Description
The School Facilities Manager is a full‑time non‑exempt, salaried position with a 12‑month work schedule, beginning July 1. Working hours are 7:00 am–3:00 pm, subject to change at the school's discretion. The School Facilities Manager will report to the Director of Facilities and Safety.
Position Overview
The School Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing a conducive learning environment through the maintenance and operation of a dedicated classical school campus. This role ensures the safety, functionality, and maintenance of buildings and grounds, overseeing HVAC, electrical, and cleaning services. The position requires experience with all aspects of general commercial maintenance functions, including light plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, and other basic repair skills. This role is critical for ensuring reliable operation of the school's mechanical systems, regulatory compliance, and long‑term asset sustainability.
Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct regular inspections of the campus to identify and address maintenance needs promptly.
Work independently and maintain a disciplined schedule of critical tasks.
Diagnose, coordinate, and oversee a wide variety of general repair tasks, including light plumbing, electrical, and mechanical repairs, as well as timely on‑demand repairs and scheduled maintenance.
Use and maintain equipment and job‑related tooling safely and properly.
Support building needs on an on‑call basis, if necessary.
Maintain detailed and complete records of maintenance, repair, and testing activities.
Oversee the efficient use of classroom and office spaces, coordinating with school administration for rearrangements or special setups as required.
Maintain an inventory of all equipment, furniture, and fixtures within the school campus.
Coordinate repairs, replacements, or acquisitions as needed.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols, implementing measures to enhance campus safety for students, staff, and visitors.
Develop and implement emergency response plans, coordinate drills, and ensure the availability of necessary resources for crisis situations.
Collaborate with the school administration in the development and management of the facilities budget, ensuring cost‑effective solutions while meeting operational needs.
Develop and maintain relationships with external vendors and contractors for facility‑related services, ensuring timely completion of projects within budgetary constraints.
Maintain a clean environment throughout the school day.
Conduct periodic safety inspections and other proactive facilities requests.
Perform other functions as assigned to ensure effective, safe, and smooth school operations.
Qualifications
Proven experience in facilities management, preferably in an educational setting.
Experience in commercial repairs and maintenance.
Ability to self‑manage and perform each essential duty beyond satisfaction.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
Familiarity with budget management and cost‑control principles.
Great attitude and energetic approach to customer service.
