
Summer Laborer

SUMMARY
Assists full-time Water and Sewer employees in their daily operations to help maintain all facilities as directed. Performs cutting, trimming, clipping, raking, digging, and brush removal; fire hydrant flushing, inspection and painting; power washing and exterior cleaning; traffic control, surveying and field locating with GPS; building maintenance that includes cleaning, organizing and painting; weeding, mulching, planting and watering. Performs other department duties at the supervisors' discretion.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 18 years or older to operate machinery, able to operate medium and smaller motorized equipment such as: push mower, weed whacker, leaf blower, and any related equipment. Requires proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word, and must have mechanical aptitude. Requires valid Connecticut Driver License and good driving record.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Considerable outdoor work in all weather conditions (heat, rain, etc.) as well as occasional indoor work. Physical requirements include but are not limited to: walking, bending, climbing, standing, sitting, stooping, lifting, standing which may be performed for extended periods of time and/or on uneven surfaces. May be required to set up and work on a scaffold or ladder. Ability to safely lift and move objects of up to 50 or more pounds. This list is not all-inclusive and may be supplemented as necessary.
CLASSIFICATION & WORK SCHEDULE
Seasonal position beginning mid May through mid-August, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
